Poem by Torique Miller-Palmer (Joanna's Nephew)
My auntie bubs, an amazing woman, strong and a role model to everyone who knew her, she was a fighter and never gave up even if it hurt her.
My auntie bubs, she did so much for everyone and when she was told she had cancer she never stopped giving.
My auntie bubs, she wanted to do so much although her body told her, it could only do so little, but she didn’t listen to her body, she didn’t list to her cancer and she carried on fighting.
And the day my auntie bubs died I looked up to the sky and saw the sun shining after days of fog. So I know my auntie bubs is up there and she is happy, free of pain and I know she’s watching and listening down on us right now, rest in peace, my auntie bubs.

Fly away my angel,
Spread your wings and fly;
Take the beauty of your soul,
And share it with the sky.
Take the warmth within your heart,
And put the sun to shame;
The glow of summer's sunlight.
Will never be the same.
Take the strength within your soul,
From your heart, the tenderness there;
Behold the majesty of the sky,
It’s beauty does not compare.
Take the splendour of the stars,
That twinkle in the sky;
It fades in the matchless sparkle,
Of the beauty there in your eyes.
Fly away my Angel,
For I have set you free;
I will wait here patiently,
Until you fly back to me.
